Crown Castle International Names Dale N. Hatfield to Board of Directors

HOUSTON, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) announced today that it has named Dale N. Hatfield to its Board of Directors, filling a vacant position on the Board.

Mr. Hatfield, age 63, is currently the Director of the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. From 1997 to December 2000, Mr. Hatfield held several positions with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), including Chief of the Office of Engineering and Technology and Chief Technologist in the Office of Plans and Policy. Mr. Hatfield has also held positions in the U.S. Department of Commerce including Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and Deputy Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Mr. Hatfield retired from government service in December 2000.

Prior to working for the FCC, Mr. Hatfield was Chief Executive Officer of Hatfield Associates Inc., a multidisciplinary telecommunications consulting firm. In 1973, Mr. Hatfield received a Department of Commerce Silver Medal for contributions to domestic communications satellite policy, and in 1999, he received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award. More recently, Mr. Hatfield received the PCIA Foundation's award for exceptional professionalism and dedication in government service and the FCC's Gold Medal Award for distinguished service. Mr. Hatfield has also served on a variety of corporate boards including Cushcraft Corporation, Pittencrief Communications and Data-Marine International.

Mr. Hatfield received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Case Institute of Technology and an MS in Industrial Management from Purdue University.
