HOUSTON, Jul 26, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) announced today that it has purchased 8.5 million shares from Salomon Brothers International Limited ("SBIL") for $18.3 million. The shares purchased by the Company represent all of the remaining shares previously owned by affiliates of France Telecom and purchased by SBIL pursuant to a Disposition Agreement dated May 17, 2000 among SBIL, France Telecom, CCI and certain of their affiliates. The purchase was conducted through a privately negotiated transaction and is not the initiation of a share repurchase program. The Company ended the second quarter with approximately $841 million in cash and investments.
